Savannah Smiles

Savannah Smiles is a sweet little film that proved a surprising hit on the Saturday matinee circuit. Mark Miller and Donovan Scott play a pair of good-natured escaped convicts who cross the path of precocious runaway Bridgette Andersen .[1] Savannah Smiles won city awards for best new bar in 2001 and best overall bar in 2002. The bar is open Wednesday through Saturday 7pm to 3am, Sunday 7pm to 2am.[2] Savannah Smiles won city awards for best new bar in 2001 and best overall bar in 2002. There are several shows of the "dueling pianos" Wednesday to Saturday, and a "karaoke" night on Sunday.[3]

Savannah Smiles opens with a chubby, lame-brained ex-con named Boots (Donovan Scott) breaking his buddy out of prison even though his buddy only has a little bit of time left on his sentence. Boots and Alvie (Mark Miller) go on the lam and steal a broken-down junker of a getaway car as they attempt to make their escape.[4] Savannah Smiles hit me particularly hard, though I can see it as a point of contention among fans. It’s sappy and sentimental, but for me, that’s working just fine.[5]
